Flickr Photo Gallery - Getting My Borders Back

Along with DePo Clean Theme and FlickrRSS, I installed the Flickr Photo Gallery as an easy way to add flickr photos to posts. I never got into the Wordpress way of doing images and Flickr Photo Gallery was much smarter. I wasn’t looking for the photo album functionality, just the ability to easily add photos to posts. This plugin scans my Flickr page and fetches the most recent posts, then lets me quickly add them at whatever size I want. I love it! But it didn’t work as I wanted out of the can, so I changed it:

Mackerel Curry

There were two things I wanted to change. The first was not changeable by me, it’s the ability to just specify what size I want to use as default and not have to select it in the fiddly little menu each time. I almost always want a 500px photo inserted. I bet there are other people who always want a thumbnail or whatever and they’re aching for the same functionality.

The other thing, I changed myself with BBEdit Find and Replace. I didn’t like the way that the plugin inserted a border=”0″ into every IMG tag I made. I like the way the DePo theme creates a nice black border around images, and also just wanted the functionality to change it in CSS if I like.

To get this, I did a mass find and replace over all the files in the flickr folder, replacing border=”0″ with nothing. It may have broken something, but for now it’s working nicely.

The image above was inserted after I’d modified the files, and it’s still working for image inserts.
