A Tour of Yukarigaoka’s Little Train Line

Yukari Monorail in Yukarigaoka stationThere’s a little loop line monorail that travels around Yukarigaoka. This year was the 30th anniversary, so they had streamers up. As usual, they were letting people ride for free on the day of the festival in summer.

Searching for information about the fire station nearby, I came across this tour of the railway.

Once, when they were first building this line, there was supposed to be a big university opening up, and it was going to turn Yukarigaoka into a major hub. The university (maybe it was Todai) pulled out of the deal though, leaving this little country town with a monorail, which still operates and brings people to and from the main Keisei station in the morning and evening. I’ve only ridden it when it was free.
